Guatemala here we come!!

Well the pickle jar has been full for awhile.....

We are finally going to cash it in and go on a
service trip!!
Wahoo!!

Dallen heaved the pickle jar of change and dumped it on the living room floor.
He and Seth divided the
138lbs of coins into 7 gallon ziplock bags
and stuffed them into three backpacks to hall
to the bank.

It took 25 minutes to get all the coins filtered through the machines.

The Grand Total - $1,494.50
Thats: 8284 pennies
2142 nickles
3865 dimes
3625 quarters
and 10 silver dollars
(The machine didn't take 50cent pieces
of which we had 5)

Dallen, Seth and I are set to jet.

Elder Seth Vaughn Garner you have been called to serve....

Seth opened his mission call on November 14th.  We meet at Mom and Dad's house that evening to watch him open it.  Seth was very sweet, humble and tender.  It was so exciting to hear him read the letter. He has been called to serve in the California San Diego Mission, he reports to the M.T.C. on January 23rd.  We all could not be more excited for Seth and the people in San Diego.  We know he will touch many lives.  We are grateful to Seth and his sacrifice to serve, we know our family will be blessed for his efforts.  WE LOVE YOU SETH.  We are so excited for you!!

Looking official!!

It was hugs all around.  Eli cried for a good forty minutes.  He said he just felt really good inside but he was also going to miss Seth.  All the kids really know how much Seth love's each of them.  Seth is such a awesome uncle.

Governor's Awards in the Arts

Dennis accepts the Governor's Award for Excellence in Folk and Traditional Art in behalf of Lona,
September 27th 2012

Taken from the Magic Valley Times News:

Another local recipient of the Excellence in Folk and Traditional Arts award was Lona Hymas-Smith, whose husband, Dennis Smith accepted the award on her behalf.
Hymas-Smith, who carved wildlife from wood, died earlier this year from injuries sustained after a bicycle accident.
“There was not a bird of a fish she could not carve,” read Idaho Commission on the Arts Chair Mark Hofflund from a nomination letter for Hymas-Smith.
Hofflund said the letters about Hymas-Smith described how she took on every challenge and pushed the boundaries of wood carving.
“If she was here she would love it,” her husband said at the ceremony. “Anybody who knew her knew that she was somebody special.

Dennis's Mother, Dwayne, Monica, Grandma, Grandpa and Russ were able to attend with Dennis.

Congratulations to Zac!!

Zac graduated from Military Boot Camp in Missouri on August 22nd.

Taylor, Oliver and Hazel ~ Happy reunion after the graduation!!
It's been 12 weeks apart.
They got to spend from 1pm to 8pm after graduation and 8:30am to 8:30pm the next day together.
Then it's good by again for the next 4-1/2 months.

Zac sneaks a kiss before he has to head out to Texas for Basic Training.
(There isn't suppose to be any public affection while in uniform!)

Lined up and ready for a 22 hour bus ride to Texas for Basic Training.
He will finish January 10th.

Oliver's airport mode of transportation. Haha

Warning......not for the week at heart, graphic grossness!

And trauma lives on......

Just  thought everyone would like to see the latest mishaps in the Baird Family!

Lauri goes head to head
with a razor.
That dang boxing it up to
move process!
(Good thing she has a dad who makes
stitching house calls)

Scott drops a big metal carpet stripping machine on his foot snapping the end of the
bone off the big toe.

 It's totally GROSS!!
(Since this picture, the nail is now completely black matching his completely black fingernail from a run in with a saw a couple months ago.)

Dallen hiked the hills at night and met up with some poison oak. It's pretty much all over his body.

And..... Seth woke up with his head laying on his shoulder and the muscle on the side of his neck lumped up like a large goiter!!
(I didn't take a pic of that)
Turned out to be Torticollis, or wry neck.
We Garner's need a Dad Doc to make
house calls!
$$$

Thus life's traumas keep coming!!
